Glastonbury investment adviser Symmetry Partners LLC named Fairfield University finance professor John B. McDermott its chief investment strategist, cementing an affiliation dating to 2005.
McDermott now leads Symmetry’s investment committee, working with the firm’s research department and with its investment-product vendors to identify and design the best investments for clients.
His consultant role to Symmetry is in addition to his teaching duties, where he is known for his work as a published authority on the role of liquidity in financial markets, authorities said.
“We expect that John’s new role will help further ensure that our financial advisor clients are positioned to succeed with investment products designed for today’s markets,” said Symmetry co-founder and principal Patrick Sweeny.
McDermott received a B.S. from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, an M.B.A. from Columbia University and a doctorate from the University of Connecticut.
As of last Halloween, Symmetry said it managed or was sub-adviser on $6.1 billion in combined assets.
