Survey: Women OK with smaller retirement nest egg

A new survey suggests women may be OK retiring with a smaller retirement nest egg than the amount men say they want.

About 73 percent of the women who responded to the survey paid for by online brokerage TD Ameritrade say they are comfortable having less than $1 million saved before retirement. Only about 63 percent of the men surveyed agreed with that.

About 32 percent of men would like to have more than $1 million saved before retirement. Among women, about 22 percent say they want to save more than $1 million.

Opinion Research conducted the phone survey of 801 adults in May for TD Ameritrade. The margin of error is plus or minus 3 percentage points. (AP)
