Survey: HBJ readers are slightly more pessimistic about 2020

Hartford Business Journal readers are slightly more pessimistic about 2020, with only 33.3 percent predicting Connecticut’s economy will improve in the year ahead.

Last year, 37.8 percent of HBJ readers predicted the economy would improve in 2019.

Meantime, 43.2 percent of readers think Greater Hartford’s economy is in better shape today than it was a year ago.

Those were some of the major findings of Hartford Business Journal’s 2020 economic outlook survey, the results of which are featured below.

The survey was emailed to more than 10,000 HBJ Today subscribers. The unscientific results were gathered over a three-week period in November and garnered over 250 respondents.

The survey provides a window into how the region’s economy will likely perform in 2020, and the results mirror some of the economic forecasts provided by economists and business executives featured in HBJ’s recently published economic forecast.
