Connecticut physicians earn an average of $329,000, the third-highest salary in the country, according to the latest annual pay survey by Medscape.
Only Oklahoma and Indiana doctors were paid more, according to the health website, which is owned by New York-based WebMD.
The U.S. average doctor salary was about $300,000, up from $294,000 in 2017.
“We’re seeing the impact of supply and demand on physicians’ salaries in this year’s report,” Leslie Kane, senior director of Medscape Business of Medicine, said in a statement. “The growing need for more doctors as the population ages is pushing salaries higher.”
Through an online survey, more than 20,000 doctors across multiple specialties provided salary information, according to Medscape, which has done seven prior pay surveys.
