Deerfield, Ill.-based Surgical Care Affiliates Inc. (SCA), which operates outpatient surgery facilities across the country, has partnered with two more Connecticut facilities, it announced this week.
SCA partnered with Surgical Center of Connecticut (SCC), a multispecialty ambulatory surgery center in Bridgeport, effective Nov. 1. The deal aligns SCA with an additional 20 physicians.
SCA also partnered with River Valley Ambulatory Surgery Center (RVASC) in Norwich, which has 24 physician partners.
The deals expand SCA’s portfolio in Connecticut to six locations.
SCC’s physician-led facility consists of 20 physician partners specializing in gastroenterology, orthopedics, spine, urology, and pain management. It is now jointly owned by SCA and physician partners.
RVASC also is a physician-led multispecialty surgery center with 24 physician partners specializing in otolaryngology, gastroenterology, orthopedics, pain management, podiatry and ophthalmology. It, too, is now jointly owned by SCA and physician partners.
SCA partners with health plans, medical groups and health systems across the country to develop and optimize surgical facilities. As of Sept. 30, it operated 205 surgical facilities, including ambulatory surgery centers and surgical hospitals, in partnership with approximately 3,000 physicians.
