SUFFIELD FIRM HONORED

EDM Distributors of Suffield has been named Distributor of the Year by Wright Manufacturing. This is the second year in a row that EDM has honored as the distributor of the year by the Maryland-based maker of commercial lawnmowers. EDM led the country in percentage of increased sales, new dealer development and overall parts and service satisfaction rating. CONNECTICUT BUILDING CONGRESS ELECTS ONORATO AS PRESIDENT

The Connecticut Building Congress recently elected Martin Onorato, a lawyer with Robinson & Cole LLP, to lead the organization into its 60th year.

“We will be highlighting the organization’s rich history as it approaches its 60th anniversary in 2012,” Onorato said. He’ll be working with the group’s historian, Chris-Philip Onofrio of Langan Engineering & Environmental Services, on the project.

Ronald Goodin of Petra Construction Corp. was designated president elect. First vice president is Edward Weber of Grubb & Ellis Inc.; secretary is John Jenney of Fletcher-Thompson and treasurer is Joseph Spagnoletti of Kostin, Ruffkess & Co. LLC.

CARTUS CITED FOR WELLNESS PROGRAM

Community Health Charities of New England has named Cartus Corp. the recipient of its Karl J. Krapek Health Promotion Award.

The award, named for the former president and chief operating officer of United Technologies, is presented annually to a corporate campaign partner that has an exceptional workplace health and wellness program. Cartus manages active and innovative workplace health and wellness initiatives, including an onsite wellness center, health fairs, blood pressure screenings, and a host of preventive interactive activities.

The Danbury company is a provider of global employee relocation management services.

HAMDEN DESIGNER ELECTED 

Lynne Panagotopulos, interior designer at Silver / Petrucelli + Associates in Hamden, was recently elected vice-chair of the Connecticut chapter of the USGBC, an organization that focuses on advancing the concept of sustainability in the built environment through educational programming and professional outreach.

Panagotopulos was founding chair of the USGBC’s Connecticut Emerging Professionals. In her role at Silver / Petrucelli + Associates, she helps clients recognize the economic benefits of building green.
