Subway doubles up on spokespeople in new  ‘takeover’ TV ads

You’ll get two Connecticut businesses for the price of one in new “takeover” ads for Milford-based Subway restaurants due to start airing this week.

“Little Bob” of the TV ads for Bob’s Discount Furniture of Manchester will break into an ad for the new “Eat Fresh Refresh” campaign from Subway about 15 seconds into a 30-second spot as part of the campaign.

Other non-food businesses featured in the “takeover” ads include Los Angeles personal injury lawyer Jacob Emrani and California car dealership Galpin Motors.

Little Bob and other spokesmen will tout the benefits of Subway sandwiches and display 1-800 numbers for more information.

DentsuMcgarrybowen created the “takeover” campaign, with media planning from Carat and activation supported by Current Global, Jack Morton, Proof Advertising and United Entertainment Group.

Subway Chief Marketing Officer Carrie Walsh said,  “The next phase of our historic creative campaign takes the original idea of ‘so much new to share’ in creative and unexpected directions. There are even more surprise takeovers that we can’t wait to share with our fans later this year.”
