Sturm Ruger’s hand in gun-export reform

President Barack Obama has tapped an officer with Fairfield handgun maker Sturm, Ruger & Co. Inc. to provide her knowledge of export regulation to a federal panel advising on weapons-export reforms.

Kim Pritula, Sturm Ruger’s director of export/alcohol, tobacco and firearm compliance and security, has been appointed to the President’s Export Council Subcommittee on Export Administration (PECSEA).

Pritula’s export control knowledge and expertise will help the panel develop ways to reform and maintain an efficient and effective U.S. export control system, said Sturm Ruger President Mike Fifer.

The panel’s focus is advising the Commerce Department on reforming arms-export rules that protect national security yet minimize potential adverse affects on U.S. gunmakers, said Lawrence G. Keane, who chairs the export committee for the National Shooting Sports Foundation.
