Stratford has completed $10 million in energy efficient updates to 33 town buildings, expecting payback within 13 years.
The town expects to save $9.9 million in energy costs over 15 years and earn $790,879 in incentive payments from the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund.
United Illuminating Company worked with Stratford to identify equipment that if replaced would lower energy costs enough to warrant replacement. The money was provided by the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund, which uses UI to distribute funds as part of the Energize Connecticut initiative.
Buildings renovated include town hall, schools, firehouses, the police station, water treatment facilities, and office buildings.
