Stop & Shop is launching a new effort to recruit workers across Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
The supermarket chain this week said it will begin airing six-second, 15-second and 30-second television advertisements highlighting the advantages of working for the company in a bid to fill permanent in-store and e-commerce-related jobs.
Stop & Shop said it is looking to hire for union positions in bakery, deli, grocery, seafood and produce departments. Other union roles are available as part of the chain’s overnight staff, and as cashiers, porters, baggers and home shoppers.
The company did not say exactly how many people it is ultimately planning to bring on.
While Stop & Shop did not explain what factors are behind its new hiring push, the nationwide labor shortage has made it increasingly difficult for many retailers to find workers.
