Stony Creek Brewery, local juice maker partner on latest brew

Branford’s Stony Creek Brewery has paired with the maker of New Haven’s RIPE craft juice on its newest brew released this month, the ‘Ripe ‘n’ Cranky Orange’, the company said.

Stony Creek began offering the India Pale Ale in cans Oct. 1 – a blend of its flagship Cranky IPA with RIPE’s cold-pressed Valencia Orange Juice.

“Local is a powerful force in our industry right now,” said Edward J. Crowley, president of Stony Creek Brewery, who noted RIPE juice is made just 10 minutes away from the brewery.

RIPE founder Michel Boissy said his company, which produces all-natural, unpasteurized juices, feels “a real synergy” with the brewery and its products.

‘Ripe ‘n’ Cranky Orange’ is the first of three versions of the juiced IPA in a series that will rotate three times per year, the craft brewery said. The beers will feature RIPE’s Valencia Orange Juice in fall, Costa Rican Pineapple Juice in winter and Ecuadorian Passion Fruit Juice in summer.

The 16-oz cans will be sold in four-packs in all markets where Stony Creek beer is available.
