Statewide cultural nonprofit names executive director

Middletown nonprofit Connecticut Humanities said it has hired public relations and marketing veteran Doug Fisher as executive director.

Fisher most recently worked as senior vice president of marketing and government relations for East Hartford property firm Goman + York. He also served as executive director of New England’s Knowledge Corridor, an economic development marketing partnership that includes businesses and other entities spanning from New Haven to Northampton, Mass. He will be departing that role as well.

Fisher worked for Northeast Utilities from 1995 to 2012, and has also worked for the Connecticut Business & Industry Association.

He succeeds Stuart Parnes, who is retiring after four years as Connecticut Humanities’ executive director.
