The top money manager of Connecticut’s $25 billion pension fund has resigned and will head into the private sector.
M. Timothy Corbett, who has been the chief investment officer of the state pension fund since July 2009, has accepted a position as executive vice president and chief investment officer of the Massachusetts-based life insurer MassMutual Financial Group.
His last day in the state Treasurer’s office will be May 20.
In his new job, Corbett will be responsible for MassMutual’s overall investment strategy, as well as oversight of the company’s general investment account.
Corbett began his professional career at Aetna in 1982, where he held a number of investment positions over a 20 year period, ultimately becoming head of portfolio management.
