The State Treasurer’s Office partnered with the State Department of Children and Families and Hartford’s Camp Courant to distribute 1,700 backpacks throughout Connecticut this summer. Treasurer Nappier was at Hartford’s Camp Courant to kick off the Fifth Annual Backpack Donation Program sponsored by the Connecticut Higher Education Trust. CHET is providing backpacks filled with school supplies to students in need who will be entering kindergarten through sixth grade. Nappier, who is trustee of CHET, recently visited Camp Courant, whose 700 campers received backpacks. In August, CHET and DCF will distribute the remaining backpacks to children across the state.
