Gov. Ned Lamont and Connecticut Transportation Commissioner Garrett Eucalitto will hold a news conference at 1 p.m. Monday to announce a project to rehabilitate Hartford’s Dutch Point Viaduct.
The 61-year-old bridge is an 1,800-foot raised structure on I-91 southbound between the area of the Connecticut Convention Center and Colt Armory. It has ramps to and from the Whitehead Highway that connect I-91 to downtown Hartford.Â
The rehabilitation project will entail replacing the viaduct’s bridge deck and installing upgraded drainage systems and new highway lights to improve safety and increase the structure’s lifespan and load-carrying capacity, according to a news release from the governor’s office.
U.S. Sens. Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy, Hartford Mayor Arunan Arulampalam and other state and local officials are expected to attend.
