A long-vacant brownfield will be cleaned up with the help of $10 million authorized this week by the state Bond Commission.
The bonded funds will go to the town of Preston as grant-in-aid to help remediate and demolish structures at the former site of Norwich Hospital, which closed in the 1990s.
The Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority, which operates Mohegan Sun, acquired the 393-acre property last year from the town.
MTGA plans to build a non-gaming entertainment complex on the site, and hopes to finish remediation work by 2018, the Hartford Courant reported last month.
