The state will make official today its $10 million grant to Hartford Hospital to support a 30,000 square foot expansion of the medical center’s Center for Education, Simulation, and Innovation (CESI).Â
The CESI project is part of the hospital’s larger $100 million capital improvement plan, that aims to make the institution a leader in training the world’s healthcare professionals in the latest medical techniques.Â
Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Catherine Smith will officially sign the grant agreement in a ceremony scheduled for Tuesday afternoon,
CESI is a training facility that allows healthcare professionals to simulate different types of acute crises and higher technology patient treatment. Participants are able to train in a setting similar to his or her actual work environment to create an atmosphere of realism. The facility also allows for the simulation of crises or other high risk medical care across disciplines, so that specialists can work on communication and improve patient safety.Â
