The state of Connecticut has launched a special website www.CaringCareers.org, and multimedia public awareness campaign to help Connecticut attract more people to the growing field of in-home caregiving.
Highlighting the theme, “In-Home is In Demand,” the website and campaign will promote opportunities in a job market that’s expanding rapidly as older adults and people with disabilities seek more options to live independently, the state said in a news release.
The campaign will be on TV, Pandora radio and billboards in Hartford, New Haven, Bridgeport, New Britain, Danbury and Torrington, and also appear in digital and print media. The federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services is funding the campaign, which will run through spring 2017 as part of Connecticut’s initiative in long-term care to serve more older adults and people with disabilities in community settings.
The Connecticut Department of Social Services is partnering with the Department of Labor to link CaringCareers.org to the state’s main jobs site at www.CTHires.com. The sites offer information for exploring and gaining employment in the expanding home care field. Jobs run from entry-level to highly-skilled specialties.
By 2024, the state’s homecare workforce will grow to about 33,500 personal-care aides/assistants and 10,775 home health aides, the release said. The employment potential is even greater when viewed across all in-home care occupations, including social workers, recovery assistants, occupational therapists, physical therapists and recovery assistants.
