State hits IRS e-filing milestone

When it comes to filing taxes, Connecticut residents are among the most computer savvy in the country. The IRS says it has now received more than one million electronically filed returns this year from Nutmeggers. That’s up almost 10 percent from last year. One of the biggest areas of growth was returns filed electronically from home computers.  Over 260 thousand self-prepared e-filed returns were submitted, up 11.6% from last year. E-Filed returns from tax professionals climbed 9.2%. IRS e-file for 2006 individual tax returns will remain available until October 15, 2007.
