Connecticut Treasurer Denise L. Nappier said Thursday that her department is holding as much as $627 million in unclaimed funds from uncashed checks, bank accounts, utility deposits and other sources.

Nappier said that the state returned $150.4 million to more than 36,000 people and businesses during the two years ended June 30, 2013. Of those claims, 90 were more than $100,000.
