Startup homeowner’s insurance provider expands into CT

A fast-growing startup homeowner’s insurance provider began expanding into Connecticut last month, the company announced, and is hiring remote workers to help with its new workload.

Massachusetts-based Openly, which was founded by insurance industry veterans Ty Harris and Matt Wielbut in 2017, began rolling out to independent insurance agents and Connecticut homeowners in May. Connecticut is the 22nd state where Openly’s homeowners insurance coverage is available, the company said.

The rollout will be phased, with new access to certain independent agencies each month. Dan Rodriguez from William Raveis Insurance said his firm has partnered with Openly in Massachusetts for almost two years and will be a partner in Connecticut as well.

The company said it has secured $100 million in Series D funding in 2023 and is recruiting remote positions to boost its staff. It was named to Forbes America’s Best Startup Employers list last year in addition to Inc.’s Best Workplaces.
