A fledgling biotech company, Abbratech Inc., has leased a 5,000-square-foot space for research and development at 25 Business Park Drive, Branford.
Linda Stevens, executive director for the company, said it is the first time the startup is getting its own space, as it previously has been sharing a suite at nearby 21 Business Park Drive.
Terms of the lease were not disclosed.
Michael P. Weiner, who is CEO and founder, is listed as the company’s principal with the Office of the Secretary of the State. Weiner has held several biotech positions during his career, such as vice president of molecular sciences at Abcam, and founder and chief scientific officer with AxioMx Inc.
Abbratech, founded in 2020, is working to apply knowledge from the past 15 years of human genome sequencing and Ab (antibody) engineering to produce recombinant Abs, according to its website. The company says its technological advances allow it to make antibodies with targeted precision. Antibodies play a key role in the body’s immune system.
Richard Guralnick of O,R&L Commercial’s Branford office represented both the landlord, Business Park Realty LLC and Abbratech Inc. in the deal.
Abbratech plans to use about 40 percent of the space for administrative offices and conference rooms and the rest for new enclosed labs, open bench spaces, and clinical and research offices.
