Stanley inked as premier Travelers Championship sponsor

New Britain manufacturer Stanley Black & Decker will become the second presenting sponsor of the Travelers Championship for the next seven years, tournament officials said.

Travelers officials said Stanley will become a premier sponsor during the 2018 tournament that lasts from June 18-24 at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell.

Don Allan, Stanley’s CFO, said the partnership aligns with the company’s efforts to strengthen Connecticut through several community initiatives.

“We believe that in order to succeed in this new era of accelerating change and societal challenges, companies need to take a broader role in society and create value beyond profits, to generate a positive impact for shareholders, the environment and society,” Allan said.

Under the partnership, the New Britain manufacturer will host the Stanley Black & Decker Fan Zone featuring additional seating, cooling zones, mobile device charging stations, free Wi-Fi, restrooms and a fan zone expo.

Meantime, Stanley will provide a lounge and viewing area alongside the 18th hole fairway that will be open to all ticket holders.

The Travelers Championship, the second-most-attended PGA Tour event on the circuit, includes another impressive field of players such as last year’s winner Jordan Spieth, two-time champion Bubba Watson, Jason Day, recent Master’s champion Patrick Reed, Rory McIlroy, Zach Johnson and Jim Furyk, among others.
