Stanley Black & Decker’s former CEO Allan named Hartford Stage board president

Former Stanley Black & Decker CEO Donald Allan Jr. has been elected board president of Hartford Stage.

Allan recently led the venue’s Set the Stage Campaign, which successfully raised more than $20 million, the largest fundraising initiative in the nonprofit theater’s history.

The theater says it used the cash to strengthen its endowment while also providing support for current programming and long-term sustainability.

Allan still serves as executive chair of Stanley’s board, where he has held senior leadership roles for more than 25 years. He has also served on the boards of Logitech International, Andersen Corp., the University of Hartford, and Hartford HealthCare.

He was CEO of Stanley from 2022 to 2025, having served in various roles at the company since 1999.

The new role for Allan at Hartford Stage is part of the election of seven new governing board members and nine new faces at the theater venue’s Stage One board.
