New Britain hand- and power-tool maker Stanley Black & Decker has officially joined Trinity Health of New England as a brand sponsor of the Hartford Athletic, the city’s new pro soccer club confirmed Tuesday.
The Athletic, which has lost its first six games playing in the newly expanded United Soccer League (USL), revealed Tuesday that Stanley’s emblem has been appearing on the back of players’ jerseys this season because it’s a founding partner of the club. The company’s logo is displayed on the team’s home and away jerseys.
Stanley’s sponsorship adds to the team’s first-ever title partner, Trinity Health of New England, which was unveiled in late February, and pairs with the company’s growing presence in Hartford.
Stanley currently operates its additive manufacturing accelerator program in downtown Hartford at One Constitution Plaza, where it also houses a newly minted innovation hub, Manufactory 4.0.
The Athletic will play its first home game on May 4 at Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, instead of Hartford’s historic Dillon Stadium, due to construction delays.
