Hexcel Corp. says fourth-quarter profits rose 72 percent on strong demand for the Stamford maker of robust, lightweight composites for wind-turbine blades, airliners and other industrial products.
For three months ended Dec. 31, Hexcel netted $39.5 million, or 32 cents a share fully diluted, up from $22.9 million, or 23 cents a share, earned the same period a year earlier.
Fourth-quarter sales rose 14 percent to $355.3 million vs. $311 million the same period in 2010.
For all of 2011, Hexcel netted $135.5 million, or $1.35 a share, on $1.4 billion in sales vs. netting $77.4 million, or 77 cents a share, on $1.2 billion in sales in 2010.
