Stamford Marriott Hotel sells

The 508-room, 17-story Stamford Marriott Hotel & Spa has traded hands, according to land records.

The buyer of the 404,147-square-foot property, at 243 Tresser Blvd., is CHC Tresser Owner LLC, according to the city’s land records. CHC Tresser Owner LLC is controlled by Jon Kline, founder and CEO of Clearview Capital, a California private equity firm that owns 35 hotels across the US, according to its website.
Calls to the firm were not immediately returned.

The sale price was not disclosed in the land record, but the conveyance taxes indicate the property sold for about $15.25 million. That figure is based on the seller paying $190,625 in state conveyance taxes; Connecticut levies a 1.25% tax on nonresidential property sales.

The seller is Stamford Hotel Propco LLC, which is controlled by Gref IV REIT OP LP, of New York. Gref IV is a fund controlled by Luxembourg-based Optimum Asset Management. Stamford Hotel Propco bought the property for $31.6 million in 2018, property records stated.
