Stamford’s Synchrony Financial has pledged to create between 200 and 400 new jobs, under a deal with the state that will provide the company with as much as $20 million, officials announced Tuesday.
Synchrony, which is a provider of private-label credit cards, will receive a $10 million grant for the first 200 new jobs it creates, with the remaining funds tied to additional hires, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy’s office said.
Synchrony has also pledged to keep its existing 310 employees.
The money comes from the state’s First Five program.
Synchrony simultaneously announced Tuesday that it had moved its nearly 400 Charlotte, N.C., employees to a new 153,000-square-foot Class A office building in that city, where it also plans to grow its workforce in the coming years.
