The Hartford Financial Services Group has signed a multi-year sponsorship agreement with Major League Baseball, the property-casualty insurer announced Tuesday.
The sponsorship includes the Kansas City Royals, San Diego Padres, San Francisco Giants, St. Louis Cardinals and Texas Rangers. That list will expand next year, the company said.
The Hartford did not disclose financial details of the deal, which allows it to declare itself an “Official Sponsor of Major League Baseball” and the MLB’s exclusive partner for business insurance, homeowners insurance and employee benefits.
The Hartford’s name will also be attached to the American and National Leagues’ “Reliever of the Year” awards. And its advertising will include 13-time All Star pitcher Mariano Rivera, who retired from the New York Yankees in 2013 with five World Series titles, and pitcher Trevor Hoffman, who retired in 2011.
