St Mary’s Hospital joins Trinity Health – NE

Effective Aug. 1, Waterbury’s St. Mary’s Hospital will join Trinity Health – New England, becoming the fifth hospital to affiliate with the regional health ministry. No financial details were released.

Trinity Health – New England announced the state Department of Public Health’s Office of Health Care Access approved the transaction on July 27.

Trinity Health – New England President and CEO Christopher M. Dadlez and St. Mary’s President and CEO Chad Wable signed legal documents consummating the transaction at St. Mary’s Friday morning.

A Trinity Health – NE spokeswoman said no layoffs are anticipated.

St. Mary’s joins St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center, Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital and other entities in Hartford, Johnson Memorial Hospital in Stafford Springs, and Sisters of Providence Health System/Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, Mass., and all of their subsidiaries as members of Trinity Health – New England, which was established in Oct. 2015.

Together with St. Mary’s, Trinity Health – New England employs more than 10,000 workers, physicians and nurses in both Connecticut and Massachusetts.

Trinity Health – NE said Friday it will be investing $275 million across its five-hospital ministry for capital projects and other programmatic investments.
