St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford created the state’s first energy-audit partnership for its employees increase their homes’ efficiency.
St. Francis partnered with Victory Energy Solutions of New Britain to have more hospital employees participate in the state-sponsored Home Energy Solutions program.
Under HES, customers of electric utilities Connecticut Light & Power and United Illuminating pay a co-pay of up to $99 to have an energy audit company such as Victory perform efficiency upgrades at home and recommend equipment upgrades. The value of the audit is $750.
Through the St. Francis partnership, those hospital employees can use Victory and cover their co-pay through a payroll deduction.
The Home Energy Solutions program is administered by the Energy Connecticut initiative, which is funded by CL&P and UI through a charge on ratepayer bills.
