Curtis D. Robinson, co-founder of the Curtis D. Robinson Men’s Health Institute at St. Francis Hospital, has received the Rosa Parks Lifetime Achievement Award.
The award is granted to individuals who have personified the leadership legacy of Parks—a civil rights icon— through acts of courage, innovation and empowerment of underserved communities in the United States.
Past recipients of the award include Queen Latifah, Dick Gregory, Marla Gibbs, Johnnie Cochran, City Councils of (Philadelphia, Orlando), and Doctors of the Orlando Men’s Health Summit.
Robinson is currently co-founder and chairman of the Curtis D. Robinson Men’s Health Institute which has partnered with St. Francis Hospital and other area religious and community organizations to try to help improve health quality in the region. Specifically, the organization is looking to address the racial disparity in men’s health, particularly African-American men, by providing education, early diagnosis, and appropriate treatment of men at risk for prostate cancer.
Services, including surgery, are provided free to uninsured men.
