Windsor-based financial services software company SS&C Technologies on Wednesday wrapped up its $1.6 billion acquisition of Blue Prism Group, a purchase expected to strengthen SS&C’s position in intelligent automation technology.
Blue Prism, which is headquartered in the U.K., specializes in business process automation and has over 2,000 customers in 170 countries.
The company is expected to carry on as a unit of SS&C, under the brand name SS&C Blue Prism, headed by Mike Megaw, managing director of business process automation.
“Blue Prism’s RPA business and SS&C’s intelligent automation platform SS&C Chorus are highly complementary,” said SS&C Chairman and CEO Bill Stone. “We intend to combine these businesses to deliver a full suite of intelligent automation technologies. In addition, SS&C will cross-sell Blue Prism products to SS&C’s global client base of over 20,000 customers and leverage Blue Prism to optimize internal business processes.”
As a result of the buyout, Blue Prism is withdrawing from the AIM sub-market of the London Stock Exchange.
