SPX Corp’s only woman director resigns

Martha Wyrsch, the only woman member of the SPX Corp. board of directors, submitted her resignation on Tuesday, according to a company filing with the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission.

SPX did not provide any reason or detail on Wyrsch’s resignation, except to say it would be effective Jan. 5.

The seven-member SPX board of directors is led by CEO and Chairman Christopher Kearney, who saw a 13 percent drop in his compensation last year, mostly due to change in pension value.

The North Carolina company operated SPX Precision Components manufacturing center in Newington until April, when it sold the division for $62 million to a joint investment group out of New Canaan.
