A fixture on Main Street for 25 years, Spiritus Wines has announced its intention to move to Hartford 21.
The new location will offer Spiritus Wines with a 30-foot storefront and increase the size of the store by roughly 50 percent.
Store owner Gary Dunn said he is excited to make the move and is looking forward to being in the heart of downtown.
“It’s an ideal situation because we’ve already been on Main Street for so long and it’s just a move to be closer to where residents are moving,” he said. “We can also take advantage of the daytime office population.”
The lease that Spiritus Wines signed with Northland Investment Corp., which owns Hartford 21, is for 10 years.
Northland spokesman Chuck Coursey said there is hope to add more tenants in the coming months but Spiritus, along with a rumored food market planned for the building, is a solid foundation.
“Retailers, by definition, are not going to take that first step,” said Coursey. “Retailers that weren’t interested before are taking a second look. We knew this was going to be a long process and it’s starting to get exciting.”
