When Ken Evans’ department at Aetna moved from Middletown to Hartford, he decided to do something with the spare change in his desk. He asked his co-workers to donate their spare change and he raised $668 in two months. The Aetna Foundation matched the money raised. Rockville Bank’s President & CEO William J. McGurk was so personally impressed by Evans’ initiative, he invited Rockville Bank employees to hunt for spare change in their own desks for Evans’ Kids in Limos fund drive. The Rockville Bank Foundation then matched the amount donated by their employees. In total, Evans’ innovative fundraising idea resulted in a total of $2,000 in funds for Kids in Limos.
