Southwest Airlines will add daily nonstop service from Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks to Atlanta, the latest in a string of new flights coming to Connecticut’s main airport.
Southwest’s wholly owned AirTran Airways subsidiary will begin the nonstop Atlanta service on Nov. 3, and the tickets are on sale now.
The new Southwest route is the latest in a string of additions announced in the past month out of Bradley. American Airlines will start a Los Angeles nonstop on Aug. 27, and JetBlue will start service to Tampa and Fort Myers on Oct. 24.
Southwest’s vice president of airport affairs, Bob Montgomery, credited the airline’s great relationship with the newly developed Connecticut Airport Authority in making Bradley a key market for Southwest. The CAA was formed in 2011 to be a more nimble and market-responsive organization than the state Department of Transportation.
The Southwest nonstop will be the second out of Bradley to fly to Atlanta. The other is operated by Delta.
