Southington senior housing complex approved

An age-restricted development in Southington has gained approval from the town Planning and Zoning Commission.

Applicant and property owners Ralph and Kurt Holyst, of Holyst Real Estate LLC, will build Nature’s Estates, a 24-unit, age-restricted development at 322 Lazy Lane.

The 13-acre site is currently vacant but will soon contain free-standing, one-story homes, roughly 1,400 square feet, each with a two-car garage.

Holyst bought the property for $405,000 in March 2024.

The application was first filed in September and required a zone change to allow for the senior housing. The development will also include a new private road, infrastructure work and other improvements.

It gained approval at the Dec. 3 Planning and Zoning meeting.
