A Massachusetts commercial development company’s plan for a new $10 million hotel project in Southington, with a tax agreement in place, has been approved.
Karm Properties, of Lynnfield, is under contract to buy a 10-acre, vacant property from Queen Spring LLC of Southington, and principals Michelle Florian, Dennis Stanek Jr., and John Paul Thornton.
Plans call for a four-story, 122-room Woodspring Suites hotel at 95 John Weichsel Crossing, near Queen Street and I-84, in the town’s business zone.
The deal includes an approved seven-year tax agreement for the project, which developers said would cost around $10 million, up to $12 million.
Mahavir Patel, president of Karm Properties, said there are other hotels in the vicinity, but they are dated and this hotel would be more up-to-date. It would include a fitness center.
Preliminary plans also call for 12,390 square feet per floor, for a total project area of just under 50,000 square feet, smaller than typical hotels that are around 60,000 square feet or more, Patel said.
