Southbury Chamber joins Waterbury Regional Chamber

The Southbury Chamber has joined the Waterbury Regional Chamber, making it the regional chamber’s third subsidiary along with the Naugatuck Chamber and Watertown Oakville Chamber.

Town officials announced the Waterbury Regional Chamber’s expansion Wednesday at Chatfield True Value Hardware.

The local chamber was run by the Southbury Business Association, which recently ceased operations. The SBA’s board of directors voted on June 2 to merge with the Waterbury-based chamber due to a decline in membership and participation.

“At a time when the chamber industry is contracting with many mergers in Connecticut, and throughout the country, the Waterbury Regional Chamber is growing,” said Lynn Ward, president and CEO of the Waterbury Regional Chamber.

A governing board of directors with nine board members of the SBA and nine members from Southbury businesses will be established to run the newly formed chamber.
