A Farmington development group recently paid $1.55 million for a South Windsor church building that, along with a neighboring property, was approved for the development of a 55-unit apartment complex in late 2023.
In a deed recorded May 1, a limited liability company tied to The Metro Realty Group acquired a 5,616-square-foot church on 6 acres at 240 Deming St.
The property was sold by the Calvary Church of the Assemblies of God.
Another company tied to Metro Realty received town authorization in late 2023 to build a 55-unit apartment complex using the church site and a neighboring 19.3-acre property at 440 Buckland Road, which is controlled by another Metro Realty-affiliated company.
The property at 440 Buckland Road already hosts 96 apartments in five buildings completed in 2005.
The buyer of the Calvary Church property is 240 Deming Street LLC, whose principal, Peter Dunn, is also a principal of Metro Realty Group.Â
The property at 440 Buckland Road is owned by Berry Patch II Associates LP, whose principal is another company that has, as its principal, Geoffrey W. Sager, president of Metro Realty Group.Â
South Windsor Planning Director Michele Lipe said the developer is finalizing plans based on previously approved conditions.Â
