Developers of the much anticipated Front Street project have signed their first official tenant, a dinner/movie theatre that will occupy about 23,000 square feet, people familiar with the matter confirmed to the Hartford Business Journal.
The name of the movie/dinner theater has not been made public, but sources familiar with the project said it could be part of a chain out of the Midwest. Project developer Peter Christian, of HB Nitkin Group, has not returned multiple phone calls and emails from The Hartford Business Journal over the last two months looking for confirmation of the tenant’s name.
Front Street is the final phase of Adriaen’s Landing, the state and privately-funded residential, retail and commercial development intended to attract activity to downtown Hartford.
The plan includes the existing Connecticut Convention Center, Connecticut Science Center and the 409-room Marriott Hartford Hotel.
In total, over $1 billion of public and private capital has been invested in new development projects including the Adriaen’s Landing master plan area, as well as over 1,000 new apartment units, new and renovated hotels and the new Capital Community College.
Construction on the $30 million retail-only first phase of Front Street, which includes two commercial buildings across Columbus Boulevard and in the shadow of the Connecticut Convention Center, were completed over the summer.
