Some Nor’east hirers struggle to fill jobs

Despite high unemployment and the sluggish job market in Connecticut and other Northeast states, one in four regional employers say they often struggle to find the right workers for key vacancies, a job-market survey finds.

While 27 percent say they routinely struggle, another 65 percent say they find it hard occasionally, according to a survey by Manpower Inc.’s Right Management talent and career division.

Right Management surveyed more than 700 firms across the U.S., including 71 in the Northeast. It says the regional data are similar to its national findings.

To cope, three in four corporate hiring executives say they rely on a combination of inhouse talent and external searches to fill vital openings, the survey found. The other quarter regularly look outside for their talent needs.
