A new partnership between a Connecticut solar installer and a Vermont solar tracking manufacturer will give residents of Windsor, East Granby, Suffield, and Windsor Locks the opportunity to group-buy mobile solar systems.
C-Tec Solar of Windsor is running the state-sponsored Solarize CT program in the four towns where residents of the region can get discounts off the cost of a solar system, depending on how many total systems are purchases. Solarize CT is operated by the Connecticut Green Bank.
To provide the residents with another option, C-Tec partnered with AllEarth Renewables of Vermont to sell solar trackers as part of the systems.
Unlike stationary roof-mount systems, solar trackers allow the arrays to follow the path of the sun, harvesting much more sunlight in a typical day. AllEarth claims a 6-kilowatt tracking system can produce enough electricity to power one home.
