California-based SolarCity will open its Rocky Hill operations center on Thursday.
SolarCity, which also has an office in Wethersfield, offers solar design, installation, financing, insurance, performance guarantees, upgrades and energy efficiency evaluations for business and residential customers.
In opening its Rocky Hill operations center, SolarCity said it can keep the costs of a solar installation so low that customers will pay less for electricity from the array than they would from their utility.
The grand opening will take place from 3-4 p.m. at the new center on 714 Brook St. in Rocky Hill. Gov. Dannel Malloy is expected to attend, as is Dan Esty, commissioner of the Department of Energy & Environmental Protection, and Catherine Smith, commissioner of the Department of Economic and Community Development.
