National renewable energy firm SolarCity, with offices in Rocky Hill and Wethersfield, will construct a 250 kilowatt solar array on top of Glastonbury High School.
Construction is expected to continue through the end of January and be operational by February.
Glastonbury Public School District expects the system to provide 25-30 percent of the high school’s annual energy needs.
When the project is complete, the solar system will have its own Web site where students, faculty, and the public can monitor its output and impact on the environment.
