California clean energy installer SolarCity, with operations in Connecticut, has opened a new web-based investment platform to allow individuals and small and large companies to support solar projects.
SolarCity acquired privately-held financial technology startup Common Assets LLC to develop an investment platform for people and organizations who can make smaller investments.
Common Assets CEO Tim Newell and chief architect John Witchel joined as SolarCity executives in the deal.
SolarCity has an operations center in Rocky Hill.
