California renewable energy developer SolarCity and automaker Honda have established a $65 million investment fund to finance solar installations in SolarCity’s 14-state territory, including Connecticut.
The fund can be used by any Honda or Acura customer or dealer in Connecticut to lower the high initial cost of installing solar power at their homes or businesses.
Honda is hoping to create an incentive particularly for owners of its electric vehicles — the Fit EV and Accord Plug-in Hybrid — to install solar at their charging stations, further reducing the emissions created by powering an electric vehicle.
In addition to Connecticut, the financing is available to Honda customers in Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, Hawaii, Maryland, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Washington, and Washington, D.C.
