A major California-based developer of solar projects aims to be a buyer next year, and says Connecticut is among its targets.
Coronal Energy – a solar developer, financier and operator that partnered with Panasonic in late 2014 – is looking to buy utility-scale solar farms 5 megawatts in size or larger.
Last year, Coronal acquired HelioSage Energy, which developed the 20-megawatt Fusion Solar Center in Lisbon – expected to enter into commercial service in 2017 – and the 5-megawatt Somers Solar Center.
“We will be an exceptional partner for sellers seeking an experienced, efficient, and motivated buyer,” Danny Van Clief, Coronal’s chief commercial officer, said in a statement. “Our team has worked on solar projects in almost every U.S. state, and having sold projects ourselves we know how to treat sellers fairly.”
Connecticut is set to add approximately a dozen utility-scale solar farms in the coming few years, after state officials recently selected renewable-energy projects to negotiate long-term contracts with utilities.
Coronal said it has 3 gigawatts of solar projects under development in North America.
