Solar company owner buys large office building in Bethel for $2.5M

The owner of a Stamford-based solar company has acquired a large office building in Bethel for $2.5 million, according to a listing broker for the deal.

75 Express CT LLC, controlled by Kenny Habul, of Greenwich, purchased the 30,320-square-foot building at 16-18 Trowbridge Drive, said Joe Dimyan, a broker with Tower Realty Corp.

Habul is the CEO and owner of SunEnergy1, which has built multiple solar farms across the U.S. He didn’t immediately return a call seeking comment.

The building consists of a two-story, 4,976-square-foot barn-like structure and a one-story, 25,344-square-foot office area, Dimyan said.

The sellers were Trumbull-based Cooperative Educational Services and Litchfield-based EdAdvance, two of the state’s six Regional Education Centers, according to the town’s property records. EdAdvance announced in August 2021 that it acquired the property in a joint venture aimed at fostering creative and supportive learning experiences for children and adults. The organizations bought the building for $1.9 million in May 2021, property records show.

“After a four-year collaboration, the joint owners of the property mutually decided that the market conditions for the education-related services that could be provided in the building’s current configuration could not support its ongoing operation in a nonprofit setting,” Dimyan said.

The property, which was constructed in 1997 and sits on 5 acres, is appraised at $2.1 million and assessed at $1.47 million.
